People have been talking for some time now that California’s minimum wage needs to be increased so employees can afford to live here. We’ve also seen in the news that fast food workers are picketing for higher wages. Yesterday Governor Brown signed AB10 so we’ll be seeing that increase next year.
The current minimum wage for California employees is $8.00 per hour and has been for 5 years. On July 1, 2014, the minimum wage will be increased to $9.00 per hour. Then, on January 1, 2016, minimum wage will be raised again to $10.00 per hour.
